A Note From The Author

It was in March of 2020 that so many things began to spiral out of control in the world. The phrases ā€œpandemic, Covid-19, social distancing and quarantineā€ became the focus of the nightly news. I felt the fear of losing control and living in a world that was full of unknowns. The information and the rules about this deadly virus were changing and being updated minute by minute.

It was a Sunday evening when my home state of Florida announced a statewide quarantine. I could feel my mood start to spiral and knew that I needed a plan. My husband and I were approaching the age bracket that seemed to be hit the hardest. Even though I was unsure of the future I knew that God was not surprised by any of it! I knew my focus had to be on Him and not the nightly news! So I made a schedule for myself. A list of tasks to accomplish each day. The first and foremost was reading my Bible, then exercising, the list went: clean, organize, practice my cello, create and connect with someone. Checking things off my list kept me busy!

Create! I had a long list of projects to work on! One happened to be watercolor painting. I had signed up over a year ago for a monthly mail order subscription from Letā€™s Make Art. The boxes full of paint and ideas had been piling up from lack of time. But now, I had time! I began to watch Sarah Crayā€™s tutorials and loved every one of them! Many pages in this book came from her inspirations. Soon I gained the confidence to paint some of my own things. The donkey in this book was one of my first originals from my photo of our own Rosie. One painting led to another and this alphabet book was born.

One of the absolute greatest joys in my life is being a Gigi! I pray that this book will be a treasure to my precious grandchildren. I love reading it to them! I pray that one day they will read it to their own children and tell them things they remember about their Gigi! Most of all, I hope they know this book was created for them because I love each and every one of them so so much!
